The hero of Minecraft has received the royal treatment prior to Minecon 2012 with the production of two new vinyl figures featuring the plucky human protagonist in his basic garb and full diamond crafted attire. The 6” tall figures are now available for pre-order from Minecraft merchandising partner J!NX’s website with shipping expected to commence on November 20th 2012. This is fortuitous as the shipping date arrives just 4 days before Minecon 2012 so expect to see these goodies available for purchase on the Minecon 2012 show floor as well. Steve will join the likes of the Minecraft Creeper who has also been rendered in polyvinyl chloride as a collectable appropriate for adorning your desk, mantle or even as a wedding cake topper (do not apply vinyl figures to food).
Judging by the pictures released by J!NX these collectables will be some of the most popular Minecraft merch available in no time at all. In fact If I had to pick just a handful of items in order to fulfil my Minecraft product lust both of these figures would probably be at the top...I don’t have to wear them, they’re classy and the represent everything that the venerable videogame means to me.
Also coming soon from Mojang and J!NX is a plush collectable Creeper! This October the most dreaded enemy in the block harvesting RPG will now been softened up a bit for shipping out to eager customers. The Creeper plush stands tall at 14 inches and is clad in what I can only assume is the finest in synthetic fibers. The toy has a digital voice box deep within the fuzzy, plush body that will play some of the most feared sounds from the game so your kids will grow up with firsthand knowledge of this deadly four-legged monster. Use the stuffed green body to explain to your kid how the “SSSSSSssssss” of the creeper was the last thing many a Minecraftian heard before finding themselves unconscious and penniless in a ditch.
Each of the vinyl figures will cost you $29.99 and they come fully equipped for doing absolutely nothing on your desk. The regular version of Steve comes with a grass-covered dirt block and an iron pickaxe while the diamond clad version comes with a crafted diamond sword. The Creeper plush will run you $34.99 and when he’s squeezed he’ll let loose his famous catch phrase. Be sure to pre-order both of these if you want to have these in your hands around the time Minecon hits. If you at least get the goodies now it will lessen the impact of your friends coming back from France with the same exact swag.
